Although I have not served in the US Military nor ever killed a human, I have empathy for the US Soldier suspected in the Afghan massacre. He has served our country over several deployments in combat leaving a wife and children behind which has had to have a negative impact on this soldier.
Most likely he cracked under the pressure of war and killing; unfortunately this pressure was not detected by our military physicians. I do not believe this young man should be given the sentence of death. I also do not feel sending our children into a war to protect US interests is justified in this situation.
So give this young man a few years doing hard labor, getting the medical help he needs, and educating him to be a productive citizen in our society. Then send him home to live a prosperous life with his family.
