In a perfect world everyone would play by the rules. Unfortunately America does not live in a perfect world. Waterboarding is a tool just as a gun is a tool. When used properly it is effective and no one dies. No one likes to be tortured and no one likes to be high jacked on an aircraft full of innocent people and then slammed into a building killing thousands more.
Sometimes playing by the rules does not work and when thousands of lives are at risk then the life or the well being of a terrorist is not so important. There is a very big difference between us and them. Even if McCain does not see it. They do not play by the rules. When that happens then we must change some of the rules.
