Every day we ask influential politicos to send us their top three bullet points that are driving the day's conversation inside and outside Washington.
RedState.Com Editor Erick-Woods Erickson:
– Jim DeMint says he'll filibuster the McConnell-Reid-Pelosi compromise plan to raise the debt ceiling. At the same time, there are growing calls among conservative groups for Mitch McConnell's ouster. Conservatives are really angry about McConnell's plan.
– Speaking of McConnell's compromise plan, this is a man who has argued repeatedly in the past that an earmark ban would give the executive branch the authority to spend money, which is Congress's prerogative. But now he wants to give the executive branch the ability to take on debt, which is also, under Article 1, Section 8, Clause 2 of the constitution, Congress's job.
– Many pundits have suggested that the GOP would be at a disadvantage against Barack Obama by having such a crowded GOP primary field for 2012. But with the Democrats having to change the designated face of the GOP every other day because of the number of Republicans out front on the debt issue and with generic Republican beating Obama, it seems having a multi-faceted GOP right now against the singular face of Barack Obama is helping the GOP.

CNN’s John King talks to TIME’s Joe Klein about his upcoming road trip around the country beginning on September 10th. He’s asking viewers to help him decide where he should visit when he’s in your state. “I’m especially interested in meeting with small businesspeople, finding out what’s good and bad about what you do, what the government does to help or hurt your business” says Klein, “but I’d like anyone else who wants to talk about the future (and present) of our country, too.” To get involved or learn more about his trip click here.
And don’t forget that John King teamed up with Gowalla, the location based mobile and web service, to share his experiences from the road. Following President Barack Obama’s inauguration, John traveled to all 50 states to sit down with residents in local diners to hear their thoughts on the economy and politics. John even had recommendations for stops for Joe on his bus trip.
