– As Rick Perry gets closer to an announcement about a possible Presidential bid, there is a growing chorus of "he sounds too much like George W. Bush." If that's the best the opposition can do, Perry is probably going to be President.

– Speaking of Perry, my website, RedState.com, has its annual gathering in August. This year it will be in Charleston, SC the weekend of August 14th. Guess who's coming to speak? And yes, that is the same weekend as the Ames straw poll.

– The situation is Libya is turning out badly for all sides. The President is angering his base. The Republicans are divided on what to do. It seems the situation is at stalemate. Perhaps, just perhaps, in his zeal to shore up his national security bona fides after the Osama bin Laden killing, President Obama overreached.
