-The tax deal is loaded up with earmarks that put Republicans in an awkward position. But it looks like it may now survive.

-Obama throws an ethanol tax subsidy into the tax compromise and suddenly the House Democrats are willing to reconsider it. Cheap date, anyone?

-Don't Ask-Don't Tell is still in place. The DREAM Act can't get passed. The tax compromise is in jeopardy. There's no time for START it would seem. What a delightful Christmas season. Blogger/Founder Jane Hamsher:
