Be in the know: Today's political bullet points

Everyday we ask influential politicos to send us their top three bullet points that are driving the day's conversation in and outside Washington.

RedState.Com Editor Erick-Woods Erickson:

– Favre left the voicemails, but denies the photos. Seriously? (And yes, we all need something non-political as the burn out begins to set in) Speaking of non-political, GO RANGERS!

– Eight days left. Triage sets in. Money is tight. This is the week we begin to see on the faces of candidates the realization that they have, in fact, lost.

– Journalists on the left have lamented Rove & Chamber of Commerce spending. New data shows union spending outpaces Rove and the Chamber combined. Where's the outrage from the New York Times?

Talk Show Host and Online Editor of MyLatinoNews.com Mario Solis-Marich:

– Current Fad: The foretold GOP massive wave is now a series of threatening rip tides as the Tea Party ends up being more of a brand and less of a movement.

– Macro Trends: Democratic state parties find themselves defending their Latino base from the GOP this cycle and even big state organizations like California and Colorado don’t realize that the battle over the newest constituency has only just begun.

– Missed the Wave: NPR is on the hot seat and may soon finally regret it’s inability to develop a truly ethnically diverse talent pool.

Where's John King?

Tonight CNN’s John King will moderate the Florida Governor’s debate between Republican Rick Scott and Democrat Alex Sink.

The debate, which is co-sponsored by CNN, the St. Petersburg Times and the University of South Florida will air live at 7 p.m. ET during a special edition of John King, USA.

In one of the most highly-anticipated midterm elections, the race for Florida governor is surely one to keep your eyes on election night. Florida’s 11.9% unemployment rate is the 4th highest of all the states. (The national average is 9.6%.) Since 2007, Florida has gone from 10th to 2nd in the nation in foreclosures.

A Democrat has not won the Florida governor’s race since 1994. In the most recent CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corporation Poll, Scott holds a 49% to 46% lead over his Democratic opponent among likely voters but that’s within the poll’s sampling error.
