Be in the know: Today's political bullet points

Humor is critical in life, and maybe especially in politics. David Axelrod had a good time on Letterman last night, and VP Biden’s staff is having fun with all the buzz over the Woodward-inspired revival of talk Secretary of State Clinton is being considered as a replacement on the 2012 ticket. One more: a story in Politico today describes the VP flying around the country in a “cozy 747.” Those planes are reserved for the big guy, but I checked in just to be sure and a top Biden aide joked they had just landed in Madison, WI “aboard the Goodyear blimp.” For the record, the standard for Air Force Two is a 757, not a bad plane by any means but a lot smaller than the 747s in the Air Force One rotation. On to the bullet points: Mario, too, has a little fun with the Clinton for VP chatter, and highlights a key divide in the tight NV Senate race. Erick and the NRA have had differences for a good while, and as you can see more of late. His No. 3 is an emerging issue: Are all the waivers the administration is giving proof the health care law has serious flaws, or just smart flexibility to help during the transition to the major changes due in 2014? The health care debate, and divide, will be with us for some time to come. One last point, from me: take a second today to say “Thank You” to those who have served in Afghanistan over the last nine years. Once the “Forgotten War,” it is front and center again. Whatever your views of the war itself, those who wear the uniform are heroes worthy of our thoughts and prayers every day. Enjoy the day. – John King

RedState.Com Editor Erick-Woods Erickson:

– What happens when you put a liberal Democrat in charge of lobbying for the NRA? Lot's of Blue Dog Democrats get endorsements and the people who keep the NRA flush with cash start bolting the organization.

– Gold is not nor has it ever been an inflation hedge. It is a hedge against incompetent government. It just reached a new record.

– The Obama Administration is giving lots of companies waivers of compliance with the new health care laws. Companies without large lobbying arms need not apply and what's the point of the law if all the big corporations get exempt?

Talk Show Host and Online Editor of MyLatinoNews.com Mario Solis-Marich:

– Facebook: State Department staffers are lol-ing about the idea that new international superstar Secretary Clinton would even consider being VP, Woodward said it was “on the table” but didn’t say whose table it was on.

– YouTube: Senatorial candidate Sharron Angle’s new anti-immigrant ad proves Leader Reid right about the GOP being no safe home for Latino voters ….. BTW where is Nevada GOP Uber-Latina Tibi Ellis when her community needs her?

– Text Messages: Meg Whitman is a great employer, Newt Gingrich is an intellectual, and Christine O’Donnell is not a witch.
