I am tired of these educational bureacrats who don't think that parents have to be involved in a child's education. Its ok to ask teacher's to be accountable but this is not a one way street. Parents need to be held accountable also even though this is not popular and is akin to political dynamite. Remember its takes a village. These bureacrats need come down from their ivory towers and be real and offer common sense solutions instead of standing on their soap boxes hurling criticism and hiding behind their titles and a bad economy. Teaching is not like making widgets. It is a process. So I hope in the race to the top they don't leave the most vulnerable behind – the same kids that they are claiming to speak for. Tell them to also let kids know that the teachers can't do everthing for them. Probably when we value education over celebrity in our nation and make ALL accountable then we will see some real change in educational achievement in this country.
