Be in the know: Today's political bullet points

Every day we ask influential politicos to send us their top three bullet points that are driving the day's conversation inside and outside Washington.

RedState.Com Editor Erick-Woods Erickson:

– The President today showed up late again for his own press conference. Has he ever been on time for a press conference he himself has called? Is he just that inconsiderate of people's time?

– At the speech, the President said he wanted people to pay their fair share and posited that hedge fund managers pay less in taxes than teachers. Really? The top 1% in the country earn 20% of all income in the country and pay 40% of the taxes. What exactly should their fair share be?

– More importantly, this speech has more to do with Barack Obama trying to get his base back than actually cutting the deficit. He's lost his base. The base saw him selling out on the deficit deal. That's why he had to blame John Boehner today and claim a betrayal. That's why he's going all class warfare. This isn't a real proposal — he's already had three other proposals. This is political desperation.

Senior Editor of MarioWire.com Mario Solis-Marich:

– Time Clock: The tea party is openly rejecting the legal employment “E-Verify” mandate being considered by Congress, proving the adage that even a stop clocked is right twice a day.

– Time Travel: TV’s “Modern Family” won a bucket load of Emmys last night documenting that America’s move from “Ozzie and Harriet” to real life only takes 45 years in TV land, OMG what’s next, Sunday pundit programs that look like America?

-Fight Time: Obama draws a line in the sand saying that he will veto anything from the SuperCongress that cuts entitlements without raising revenues, GOP insiders unfortunately believe that Obama’s sands have never turned to concrete.

Editor’s Note: The blog is a place for a freewheeling exchange of ideas and opinions. CNN does not endorse anything said by its contributors.

Last wk your reporters told us that Obama has to get stronger, be more aggressive etc., now that he has presented a way to get us out of debt (evenually) and tax the very wealthy their fair share to name one. Now john king and a few others are saying this will never pass. I expect this method of reporting from Fox. When it's a debate, there are some smart Democrats that the people with the programs seem to NEVER, regardless of what the subject say that Obama has maybe made a right choice for the American people What goes??

A question for David Gergen: What could President Obama possibly offer that would "warm the hearts of Republicans" that would also maintain an ounce of reason or fairness? I await your answer. This is going to be good.

I,m a canadian and watch cnn every day, I am so tired of seeing the republicans always working against president obama, instead of working with him and helping him do the job that the americans elected hin to do. the house leader Joh nBoehmer is especially intent to negate every proposal that the president puts forthh. The(republocans )are really trying to make sertain that president obama is a 1 yerm president and the president is working so hard to do his job. The republicans sjould realize that they were were selected by the ppeople ro work for the people instead of being there for their own personal agenda. The voters should contact their representatives and complain. they just want a government that works for them. I get so frustrated when I listen to all the bickering going on. GET WITH THE PROGRAM REPUBLICANS! thank you!

Governor of Texas Rick Perry canceled his chance of being President, as he had an insignificant standing on holding back the hordes of illegal aliens. In prior speeches he was more for amnesty than against it and handing out taxpayers money for tuition of illegal immigrant children is not honing the TEA PARTY to support him. The majority of Americans have trusted Politicians like Perry for far too long, good orators in front of crowds, but in actual fact his words are meaningless when it comes to legislating what "The People" really want–such as a real double layer fence across our Southern border–of which he disapproves and a National Security issue. Far superior in worth as a new President is Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain, as neither are part of the GOP establishment. Both are heavily supported by the TEA PARTY and have exceptional immigration grades, to enforce the laws already on the books. Both are Constitutional Conservatives and believe whole- heartedly the shrinking government, scrapping the present tax code and returning agencies of government to each individual State.

Don’t believe in the Liberal Progressives, open border and radical organizations that THE TEA PARTY is an opponent of E-Verify as this is a downright lie. The TEA PARTY NATION that is just one of thousands of independent entities, as the TEA PARTY is just commonplace Americans, who have been kicked around too long. The majority of TEA PARTY members are unbending there will be no more Amnesties. No clandestine small Amnesties that have been happening for years, millions entering annually. True TEA PARTY leaders will rescind any Sanctuary City or State policies, with refusal a loss of federal funds.

If you are appalled by the mockery of our immigration laws, reach for that phone and call you’re Representative at 202-224-3121. Don't wait–this is a very powerful E-Verify bill that could help millions of Americans find work, especially in the lower incomes. When 20 million Americans are jobless, being only finding temporary or part time work, this should be not the time for hiring foreign nations. My commentary cannot possibly cover the whole travesties perpetrated on Americans, but all evidence of years of failure, unconcern and corruption is available at NumbersUSA, American Patrol and Judicial Watch. There are just three of the hundreds of serious pro-sovereignty organization, fighting the open border zealots.

URGENT message to House Speaker Boehner

Subject: URGENT!! Vote YES & Convince the House of Representatives to Vote YES for Obama's $3-trillion deficit cutting plan

To Speaker Boehner from a conservative Republican:

URGENT!! Please Vote YES & Convince all members of the House of Representatives to Vote YES for Obama's $3-trillion deficit cutting plan.

Please allow me a minute to explain what a YES vote for Obama’s plan will do:

Finally, a more equitable tax rate that will have wealthy Americans (those earning over a million dollars a year) paying their FAIR SHARE and...

Providing a quick way (without spending a year to write tax reform) to raise significant government revenue to pay for the President's plan, without raising the taxes of struggling American families and...

Finally, quickly create many thousands of construction and construction related jobs to fix our country's crumbling infrastructure – roads, bridges, schools, dams, utility infrastructure, etc..

Finally, if you convince Republicans to immediately vote YES on Obama’s plan, you will pave a way for Republicans to take control of both the House, Senate and probably the Presidency. NOTE: Obama's plan does all the above but will NOT create millions of permanent jobs which this country badly needs. Without millions of new permanent jobs, I believe that the voters in 2012 will vote Democrats and Obama out of office.

Obama thinks that you and the Republicans will NOT accept his plan, so that he can campaign around the country loudly proclaiming to voters, “See how the Republicans only care about themselves and don’t care about America and all the out-of-work Americans.” Speaker Boehner, DON’T LET THIS HAPPEN!! Please, please, please rethink your position and convince the House of Representatives to immediately vote YES for Obama's current $3-trillion deficit cutting plan, while we still have the opportunity.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for You and the Republicans to go down in history as the ones who finally helped America recover from the worst period of our history.

Thank you for voting yes and convincing the House of Representatives to quickly vote YES for Obama's current $3-trillion deficit cutting plan.

    Sincerely,

    Tom Adamson
