John King's State Fair Favorite: Beer on a Stick

Right before elections, you can be sure that politicians will be making visits to state and county fairs in their districts. Where there are politicians, political reporters aren't going to be far behind.

US News & World Report spoke to a number of politicos about their state fair favorites, including CNN's John King:

CNN's John King has a bunch of favorites he's had at the many state fairs he's covered in his journalism career. But one stands out: Beer-on-a-stick, which is essentially a wooden paddle that holds three cups of beer.

"I had beer-on-a-stick at the Minnesota State Fair last year. Can't beat that. The deep fried Reese's was surprisingly good, too, and they have amazing chocolate chip cookies there. Sen. Amy Klobuchar tried to sell me on the chocolate dipped bacon, but I passed."

John, why will you not discuss something as important as this:
NATIONAL DEBT IS NOT YOURS OR YOUR CHILDREN OR YOUR GRANDCHILDREN

THE BIGGEST LIE EVER PERPETRATED ON THE AMERICAN PEOPLE BY THE CONSERVATIVES AND CONGRESS IS TELLING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE THAT THE NATIONAL DEBT IS THEIR DEBT, THEIR CHILDREN’S DEBT AND THEIR GRANDCHILDREN’S DEBT. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FALSE. THE GOVERNMENT’S DEBT IS THE GOVERNMENT’S DEBT AND NOT THE PEOPLE’S DEBT, AND THE GOVERNMENT IS IN A POSITION TO EASILY MANAGE THEIR DEBT.

CONSIDER THESE FACTS: THE TOTAL ASSETS OF THE U.S. ECONOMY IS $213 TRILLION, AND THE NATIONAL DEBT IS $13.1 TRILLION, WHICH IS ONLY 6.1% OF THE TOTAL ASSETS.
THE GDP DOES NOT GO BACK TO ZERO ON DECEMBER THIRTY- FIRST OF EACH YEAR, BUT EACH MONTH KEEPS ADDING TO THE ECONOMIC ASSETS OF THE U.S. ECONOMY. ARTICLE
1, SECTION 8, OF THE CONSTITUTION GIVES THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THE POWER TO BORROW MONEY ON ITS ASSETS, THE POWER TO TAX, AND THE
    POWER TO CREATE MONEY.

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO OWE ONLY 6.1% OF YOUR ECONOMIC ASSETS , BE ABLE TO COLLECT TAXES FROM EVERYONE IN AMERICA, AND BE ABLE TO CREATE MONEY? THAT’S THE STATUS OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, WHICH HAS THE MEANS TO COPE WITH ANY FINANCIAL SITUATION.

IF YOU ARE LOSING SLEEP OVER THE NATIONAL DEBT AND THINKING THAT SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE ARE GOING BROKE, GO BACK TO SLEEP. THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. IF YOU WANT TO WORRY ABOUT THESE THINGS, DON’T WORRY ABOUT THE MONEY PART. ANY DEFICIT CAN BE MADE UP OUT OF GENERAL FUNDS.

THIS BIG LIE ABOUT THE NATIONAL DEBT STANDS IN THE WAY OF THE GOVERNMENT SPENDING AS MUCH MONEY AS IT SHOULD TO EDUCATE, TO PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT, TO HAVE UNIVERSAL
HEALTH CARE, TO KEEP A BALANCED MONEY SUPPLY AT ALL TIMES, AND TO INITIATE PROGRAMS TO PROVIDE GOOD HOUSING FOR ALL THE PEOPLE.

IN SUMMARY, YOU DON’T OWE A CENT ON THE NATIONAL DEBT, AND THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT BROKE BUT RATHER IT IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE.

WE NEED TO TAX LESS, BORROW LESS, AND CREATE MORE MONEY.

THE CONSTITUTION Article 1, Section 8 The congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, impost and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; to borrow money on the credit
of the United States; TO COIN MONEY, REGULATE THE VALUE THEREOF, AND OF FOREIGN COIN,
AND FIX THE STANDARD OF WEIGHTS AND MEASURES...

I wouldn't talk smart about "unqualified" people being nominated in the Republican Party. Don't we have a comedian serving as a Democratic Senator from Minnesota? We have someone serving as President who had zero qualifications and for the job and who did "blow".

I am curious why we haven't heard much about the Democratic candidate in Delaware and his interest in Marxism in his past?

Watching the President being grilled by what is susposed to be his supporters makes me wonder why no one including the media really understands what has happened in America. It is all about gas prices and how the additional cost to operate a car has hurt the middle and lower class. It began when Wall Street started trading gas and oil and the price has remained over inflated ever since. At a low point in this recession when President Obama took over gas here in Alabama dropped to 1.35 a gallon. Now after what many refer to as some of the worst months ever in the American economy gas is above 2.50 a gallon. Not sure about CNN's rates but I'd love to be able to say our radio rates have nearly doubled in that direction. The fact is they have almost halfed what we were getting. Since this began under the Bill Clinton administration and through 8 years of Bush it wasn't fixed, it is clear that neather political party gets the problem or is willing to fix it, but as a media you should at the very least understand that this is the largest problem facing America's citizens and our economy now and in the future. Don't take my word for it ask American's. It's obvious that the political machines either haven't asked, don't see the problem, or the oil companies have spent enough through lobbiest to get the issue overlooked. The reason Obama's followers are disapointed is they don't see any improvement in the economy and as long as gas and oil are traded there will be very little improvement, just oil companies amassing huge wealth and power and much of it continuing to go to the middle east.

Does the Republican nominee in Alaska not realize that the states are already heavily involved in unemployment compensation and already make a great many of the policies governing the program?

John King you were not fair to Pres. Obama this evening with your beginning panel of pundits. The Pres. had a good reception and was praised by CNBC and his usual critics. But you opened being critical.

You don't need to court admirers by acting like Fox News.
