Statement from Rep. Andre Carson to JKUSA

“The incident on March 20th happened as I’ve described. It has been reported by numerous media outlets because it is a fact. Andrew Breitbart has tried everything possible to try and rewrite history related to the events of that day—including citing as proof a video that was shot a full hour after the incident happened.

I’ve refused to engage him in some tit-for-tat because he has zero credibility on this issue. He wasn’t even on the Hill the day the incident happened.

If he wants to spend his time inciting people and defending language and actions that the overwhelming majority of Americans find reprehensible, then that’s his prerogative. But it’s not doing this nation—or the Tea Party movement–any favors.”

While it appears that Ms. Sherrod was making a statement that could be construed as racist, it is not, at least in the context off her job and the subsequent consequences. She was asked to resign without adequate investigatory proceeding nor documentation. Therefore, she cannot show what her superordinates said to her to result in her resignation. It should have been adequately documented.

Being brief, we cannot say this is institutional racism since as an individual she is not in the place to be a causal factor of it. Others have not always done all that they could in many institutions, but did what they have to do to document that they have done their job as required.

Did the woman indicating that the White House was demannding her resignation misrepresent the office of the president? Is there a penalty that should be exacted for this type of deceit and official misrepresentation of the facts surrounding this matter. I hope that this country sees that a house devided against itself cannot stand, and realizes that we have more pressing enemies to confront than having to realize the enemy is us.

Breitbart has called Rep.Carson and others liars relative to the facts reported and observed on television March 20th, 2010. He says that he can prove this beyond a doubt. I doubt that. This is part of a bigger plot to get President Obama involved in something that could only be messy this close to the mid term elections. This woman and the situation have been manipulated to achieve political ends. We have too many mean spirited people emerging as spokespersons. I believe that the American people are trying to get along and work together to make this a better place. People like Mr. Breitbart who have access to the media and use it to divisive ends are hurting all of us. Deal with the legalities of this mess and turn the page.

This whole freedom of speech thing is something that may need to looked into further. When your freedom of speech is causing people to lose their jobs b/c of a lie I think is a problem. I u/s we all want our freedom to say what's on our minds but when it's not what's on your mind you are distorting the truth to make a point that not validated is really not the America we should want. What's Mr. Breitbart's punishment for his actions besides a bunch of news reels saying his name and promoting his website. In this case to throw an innocent woman under the buss for u to motivate racism. This so called reporter states b/c he wants to point out that the NAACP as racist. That was his so called point to prove that the NAACP are hypocrites. In order for people to really have a freedom of speech let's start off by finding a suitable punishment for an indidvidual who chooses to make up things knowing the truth to distort information to prove a non point and to have it promoted on major news stations, to distract a president who is doing everything in his power to attempt to help a country who are stating that they are religous and love God, until we remove the slime or atleast scare them from doing this kind of hatefulnon productive editorial is just bad for the greatest country on earth and if we all feel that way we should treat it as such.
